| About the Galveston Riptides We are a youth football & cheer organization associated with Gulf Coast Premier Football League. We offer football teams for youth ages 5 to 12, Kindergarten through 6th grade. Our Cheer/Dance team is for girls ages 5 to 13, Kindergarten through 6th grade. We begin practices in late July and our season consists of 10 games. There is a post-season playoff tournament as well. We begin our season with conditioning and daily practices and then practice on three nights per week once school starts. We believe that youth who participate in athletics learn important teamwork and leadership skills that stay with them throughout their lives. Research also shows that student athletes perform better academically as well. About our Teams: Team is determined by athlete's age on September 1st of the season. You may choose to "play up" with coach's permission, but playing on a team below your age group requires permission from the League Board and is very rarely given. Waivers due to size or inexperience are generally not approved. |
